Online Business Success Checklist

Let’s start with some facts:
A lot of jobs are now replaced by machines / AI (artificial intelligence) – According to an article on Business Insider, it is expected that more than 3,500 retail stores will be closed in the next few months in the US. That would mean there is a huge job cut happening. There are lots of reasons why this is happening, one of it being the popularity of ecommerce.

Mobile devices vs computers – very obvious: what is the main device that you use to check your emails these days? Do you wait until you sit down in front of your computer in the evening, or simply check your emails with a quick swipe on your mobile phone?

IoT (Internet of Things): A lot of devices are now connected to the internet and data can be accessible remotely online. That includes even the microchips of some cows in the farms!

Purchase behaviour change – with the ease of buying online, and also the rise of auction / shopping sites like eBay, Amazon, TaoBao, AliExpress, and various online stores, we don’t really need to go shopping anymore (well, apart from the enjoyment, if you do enjoy it). Shopping can be done entirely online, from the comfort of our homes.

Why are these facts important? For me, these clearly show that we are in an entirely new era. An era where people are living a ‘connected’ life – everything is around the internet.

That simply means that if you want to run your own business, it needs to be online.

Running an online business, especially when starting up, also has its benefits:
Very low cost upfront: you only need a computer with an internet connection. You do not need to rent an office, hire any staff, buy furniture etc. That means you can save a lot of money to invest in marketing instead and you can start right the way!

Accessible anywhere: as long as there is a reliable internet connection, you can basically run your online business anywhere you like. Beaches with a cocktail, on a cruise, when traveling… you name it.

Fast turnaround, fast results: things happening online are so fast, that you can shorten the buying cycle tremendously.

Easy to optimize: every marketing effort that you have done online is trackable. It is very easy to identify what does or does not work, hence very easy to optimize your marketing effort to get best results.

There are several items that can assure you to be able to run a successful online business: Have the right infrastructure in place A large part of online business can be automated, when you have the right infrastructure setup.

What you would need is:
– A good web hosting account
– A WordPress website setup
– A good email marketing service a.k.a. auto-responder
– An easy-to-use page builder

In a nutshell, you need a place where you can quickly setup a squeeze page and place a form on the page which feeds email addresses into an auto-responder. You would be able to build a list that you can keep marketing to. This is commonly known as “List Building”.

Promote a Lucrative Offer: Affiliate marketing is quick and simple. Basically, you sell a product, and get a commission. However, a lot of ‘affiliate marketers’ are only earning a few bucks here and there. This is because they don’t understand the power of upsell. You need to find an offer which has a low-priced front-end product (hence it is very easy to sell) and then a high-priced back-end product would be treated as an upsell.

Scalable
A common perception amongst affiliate marketers is that SEO (or free traffic in general) is a long term strategy. Let me point this out, that’s not quite the case.

In fact you should be good in driving quality traffic, and this can be done much faster with paid traffic methods.

Eg. If you use Solo Ads to drive traffic to your offer, then once you have optimized your campaigns right, you can easily scale it up with buying more traffic. You cannot scale up your business if you rely purely on SEO.

A Proven System
It is very true that there is no point in reinventing the wheel. You don’t have the calling or mission to create the most original and unbeatable money making business here. (OK maybe you do, but let’s start small.)

The easiest and fastest way to build a successful online business is to follow a good, proven system. A system that somebody else has spent their hard-earned money to test and tweak, and you simply deploy it to earn the cash.

Can You Dismiss Overwhelm and Make Money Stresslessly?

For anyone starting to make money online one is told many things that they should be doing, in effect you are pulled from pillar to post, thrown in every direction.  Unsurprisingly no wonder so many people give up on their dreams of having their own online business.  Just as they start out and start listening to all the tutors, coaches and gurus out there, they soon become overwhelmed, not knowing which way to turn.

So, we need to go back to basics every now and then, and really stand back and strip back what we are actually trying to do because each and every one of us get lost in the details, and once we have more clarity, we remove a level of stress, get rid of the overwhelm and confusion.

You see these days everybody wants to be a coach or tutor, selling their courses and coaching, and a natural outcome is that they all try to get their own unique selling point, to be different from the market.  As a result, we end up with multiple different ways to do the same thing, which one do you go for?  Again, overwhelm and confusion. 

When you do strip back all the latest fads, the latest push button get rich schemes you actually realise you should be doing exactly the opposite to what you are being told to do.  Make it simple, go back to basics – strip it back. 

Is it right that you should be creating and launching product after product?  Should you be bombarding people’s email accounts on a more than regular basis?  What about if you are not in with the in crowd so that they can promote your launches, and you have no affiliates and no jv partners.  Do you need to be spending your whole life on social media promoting and schmoosing?

No wonder we sit there going grey, pulling our hair out, when we are trying to build our business out in the infancy of being in the online business space.  Throw us a life jacket mate I am drowning here!  Not only are we trying to work out which bit to do first but it gets you thinking about the old conundrum, “what came first, the chicken or the egg?”  More like what came first a brood of chickens or a dozen eggs there’s that much to do?  Which bit comes first?  And then half way through doing that you think oh I should be doing that instead so you do that and the other bit doesn’t ever get finished.

So, if you are just starting out, or been in the game for some time but not really been too successful you should go back to the fundamentals and work out what you don’t need to do.  Do only the things that you need to do to achieve your goals.

Follow a tried and tested blueprint, don’t reinvent the wheel let someone else work out what needs doing. 

At the end of the day, what’s the simplest but one of the most effective models to make money online:  drive targeted traffic to a high converting offer.

It’s as simple as bringing customers to a lead magnet on an opt-in page, once subscribed convert your prospects into buyers by offering them a $1 to $500 front end.  Then offer up upsells that build upon the first products, maybe a membership product.  Following this, we have the back end, the high-ticket items where the big profits come from.

That’s essentially it!  And it works in any niche!!

The cool thing is, is that the more people you put through the whole sequence, the more you sell and the more money you make.

But ouch!  What if you don’t have product creation experience, you don’t know how to build an opt-in page, what if you do not know how to create high converting sales pages.  What if you don’t have the support to help you along your way, don’t despair.

Well do … because although you know, in theory, what this simple success model is, you still may not know how to put it all together.

Highlights of 2014 and $100 Gift For You!

I’m going to go over some of the things that I have been up to this year, so you know exactly what I’ve been up to.
